Welcome to BlueGovTech and thank you for your interest. My name is Kevin Marples and I am the creator/owner of BlueGovTech LLC. In 2011, I started my career in law enforcement with the University of Colorado Police Department – Boulder. While there, I began to dive into how law enforcement agencies process and share data, not only between agency staff, but with the community. After promoting to Corporal, I gained experience on some of the issues facing first-line supervisors and began building centralized data hubs, which were built on simple Google Sites. In 2015, I left CUPD to begin my career at the City of Boulder Police Department.
While at BPD, I worked in several roles, including Patrol Officer, SWAT Crisis Negotiator, Police Training Officer and finally, as a Detective in the Major Crimes Unit and member of the Boulder County Investigative Team. While in these roles, I continued to also build out operational dashboards, where agency staff could find commonly used resources. This also included building an internal mobile application, deployed through Intune Company Portal. In 2020, I led a project to meet with stakeholders across the City of Boulder and facilitate building and launching a publicly available mobile app for the Boulder Police Department. Since launching online, on Google Play and the App Store in 2020, the Boulder Police Department mobile app has over half a million page views.
For six years I managed my primary workload as an officer/detective, as well as designing, building, and developing technology solutions for the department. In 2021, I retired my badge to accept a position with the department as an IT Applications Senior Administrator. In a period of eight months, I led multiple projects and continued to build additional IT solutions. This included a completely customized scheduling platform, a stop data collection module, two proposals for over $150,000 of awarded funds from FirstNet, an entire police vehicle technology upgrade project and transitioning the entire police department to new mobile devices and onto the FirstNet/AT&T network. Executive staff and supervisors at the police department often acknowledged by exceptional work ethic as well as my substantial impact on the overall organization. My work was highlighted by agency staff in the form of multiple awards, including Officer of the Year (2018), Award of Excellence (2017, 2019, 2021) and others.
After almost seven years with BPD, I left my position begin the next chapter of my professional career, which is BlueGovTech LLC. Through BlueGovTech, I look forward to leveraging my knowledge & skills to provide customized technology solutions and project management services to organizations in both the private and government sector.
